Who We Are

The Texoma Genealogy Group is led by Cindy Barnhart and Carol Beck, both residents of Sherman, Grayson County, Texas.

Cindy Barnhart has been working in Genealogy since 1985. She began by researching her immediate family at the Santa Clara, CA Public Library and the Sutro Library in San Francisco, CA. In 1996 she moved to Austin TX. There she had the opportunity to work at the Round Rock Family History Center. Working at the History Center provided the opportunity for Cindy to refine her research and teaching skills. Wanting to know more Cindy enrolled in the Brigham Young University Independent Study program (Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah) and earned a Certificate in Family History Research. Cindy has prepped county probate records for digitization. She has transcribed cemeteries for Cooke County, Texas as well as for Linn County in Iowa. As leader of the Lake Kiowa genealogy group, she has taught beginning as well as advanced genealogy classes for the last several years.

Carol Beck has been working on her family history since 2007. As a native Texan, Carol has done extensive research on her family in Texas, concentrating on Fannin and Grayson counties. Over the last several years, she has assisted Cindy in the teaching of beginning and advanced genealogy classes at Lake Kiowa. Carol has also prepped county probate records for digitization.
